My cat has a Twitter now. I haven’t had much luck with it in the past (ex. hackers making my account post weird porno, overall disgust at the 140 character medium, boredom) so I’m making her do all the work. Look, she’s got free room and board not to mention the all-she-can-eat meals… Anyway, I got a cool t-shirt at the Wham City Comedy show last night held @ Psychic Readings.
Practice makes perfect! Also along with the Rock N’ Roll Yard Sale on May 3rd, I’ll be vending at 95 Empire’s Flea again on the 4th. May 17th brings a Rhode Island College graduation (much anticipated) and Kids Utopia at Paris Street Gallery/Studios in Everett, MA where I think I’ll be face painting and/or enjoying the sun. :-)
Orchids, as “radiant” as they are, became too detailed for my premiere attempt at body painting and so they quickly turned to roses in an effort to improvise. All is well though because with a 700+ guest list, there was networking aplenty! Much love to my model, Adrienne Jones, who was patient and got people to take my Pancake Girl business cards! Thank you to the onlookers and photographers, all the artists involved…thank you to M1-5 Lounge for hosting us and of course, many thanks to Tom Kirlin and his Pancakey Boozers for accepting us into their world!

Pancake Girl “business cards” that people could take, grab off the walls, etc. They read: “I saw Sarah Samways at the Pancakes and Booze Show in NYC, 2014”
Inspiration for another day…
El Dia de los Muertos + rose garden, vines
* Will post live-feed-style video soon! (Yeah, you might see yourself in it…)
SO…the big Pancakes and Booze Art Show is coming up on April 10th and I’ve been steadily working on ideas for my body painting model, Adrienne. I went through all kinds of ideas from paisley and Tiffany glass to gemstones and glitter but I’ve finally figured it out. Back in January, Pantone announced that the Color of the Year was Radiant Orchid (you’ve seen the pinkish purple hue on many-a-hair-do I’m sure), and it hit me… Radiant Orchid + orchid drawings from my Floral Sketchbook + powdered white muses = body painting. I’ve included some visual aid to show you how I reached my conclusion:
Color of the Year
Floral Sketchbook – Orchids, pg. 1
Design work on a broken mannequin
This will probably be more centered when painted onto the body – perhaps in a diamond shape?
Radiant Orchid, as defined by Pantone
3/28/2014: AS220/95 Empire’s Black Box Karaoke Flea Market celebrated the Market’s 2nd birthday; there wasn’t any karaoke but I feel like that was because of the weather…
Dollar Bill’s weights got sold, my magazines did not.
March 22, 2014: ♫ It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to, cry if I want to… ♫ No need for tears here, I’m 24! Weird! Mama and I are traversing New York, stopping by an art gallery in a Presbyterian church to drop off a piece for an upcoming show (Freedom of Fantasy, April 26, 2014), looking at interesting machines, and riding in fast cabs. Now we have to look for food…ttyl! Stay tuned for updates! :D
